  • Perianesthesia (PACU) nurses provide care to patients who require anesthesia. Their primary goal is to ensure that patients who have been administered anesthesia have stable vital signs and recover comfortably.
  • This is particularly true if patients may suffer any side effects from sedation, including breathing issues, pain, nausea, fear, agitation etc.
  • PACU RNs work in hospitals and outpatient settings, like ambulatory care and surgical centers outside of hospitals.
