Home Health RNs make sure that patients are receiving nursing care at home.
They need to be familiar with tasks like taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and assessing health progress and needs. They also change dressings on wounds and observe how well a patient can do certain tasks.
They educate patients and patient families on how to maintain their health.
Usually providing care for patients who are home-bound, unable to physically visit a treatment facility. May be working with elderly, or persons with long-term illness or disability.
