Director of Nursing (DON) is a RN who supervises the care of all patients at a health care facility.
(For a travel position, likely going to be an interim DON.) As name suggests, it’s a lot of work rolled into one job. Their main goal is to maintain a high standard of care in wherever they are working.
DON’s are nurse administrators who work at hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities . They supervise nursing staff, oversee patient care as well as administrative functions like record keeping and budgeting.
Interact with nursing staff, doctors, patients and family members.
May be responsible for interdisciplinary involvement in the development of care plans.
Review equipment, regulatory reports, communicate with physician and medical director.
