Dialysis RNs focuses on condition of the kidneys and renal system. Also includes hemiodialysis (machine used to clean the blood) and peritoneal dialysis (a special fluid injected into the persona’ abdominal cavity to absorb)
They operate equipment to monitor and ensure that wastes can be flushed out and impurities can be cleansed, especially for clients whose kidneys are not working.
They work with doctors for a patient’s overall treatment plan.
Because of nature of their job, they must work to educate and motivate the patient and patient’s family in methods of disease management and healthy living.
Depending on how critical a patient’s state is, dialysis nurse may be working at ICU’s or in patient home or clinic settings.
